Photo albums

Hand-bound photo albums for some friends whose sons host the brilliant Flixtonbury festival each summer. The design uses the logo from the promotional poster, or bits of it anyway ...

Southwold notebook

Here is a new design I have been working on, initially for notebooks. The geography of Southwold lends it to this format design-wise. I'm working on designs for other local places but their geography is proving more challenging!

Folksy

Yesterday was a very exciting day. I got my Folksy shop (www.folksy.com/shops/Theleafpress) up and running, then my 'wedding plans' notebook was featured on the lovely Bluebell and Rosie blog's Folksy Friday picks. Then to finish I had my first two Folksy sales. Yay!

Leaf notebooks

Whilst travelling through the country last week I was inspired by the various colours of autumn and so decided to collect leaves to create a leaf design. This causes people to look at you strangely - understandably I suppose - so best to do where you don't know anyone! I was vaguely thinking of having a go at painting some of them but decided to adhere to the theory that you shouldn't try and paint anything that's always going to look better in its original form! The notebook on the right has a textured effect applied but isn't quite as bright. I'm not sure which I prefer.

New website

The new website is now up and running, featuring a different colour scheme and new products. The website address is www.theleafpress.co.uk.

Off to do something other than look at a computer screen now ....

Photos

Photos of some stationery items for businesses which I'm about to add to the website. These are gift tags and note cards. I took these but my friend Andy usually does all my photos and it's made me appreciate all the more the brilliant job he does!

Christmas card

Today I've been designing a Christmas card, intended for use by businesses etc., or anyone that just wants to personalise their cards.

I think I'm happy with it; just need to tweak the colour scheme to some Christmassy colours!

I'll post another pic when I've printed it properly.

Wacom woes

I thought my graphics tablet was wonderful when I first got it, but now I mostly just look at this message "There is a problem with your tablet driver. Please reboot your system. If the problem persists, reinstall or update the driver." Don't mind the message repeatedly appearing, but the thing doesn't work properly either!

However, on googling this issue it seems to be very common which for some reason makes me feel a bit better, but seems a bit strange for devices with such a strong reputation.

New designs

I've been working on lots of new designs for note cards, notebooks and invitations/notifications. Hopefully I'll soon have photos to put on here and on the website. In the meantime, here's a small screenshot of my spirograph inspired design - it's a relief the computer version can be made without the tedium of the disc slipping just as it's on the last circle ...!

My blog

Welcome to The Leaf Press blog.

It's difficult to know what to put in a first post, so I'll just say what I hope to use the blog for. I hope it will be a means of showing what The Leaf Press is up to. More specifically, I guess that would include showing new designs and products, discussing ideas for said designs/products and getting feedback. Hopefully it will also enable me to interact with customers and other artists as well.
